Kiwis are deleting and redownloading dating apps an INSANE amount of times a month - here’s why

We've got new TEA on which three things will get you an instant swipe left

We all know first impressions are everything - but now we've learned what Kiwi singles HATE to see on dating apps and what they struggle with the most when repping themselves online.

A survey from Samsung NZ has shed new light on which red flags are causing us to hit delete on the apps in the first place (before later re-downloading them, classic).

The research reveals cringey bios, try-hard messages, and basic spelling mistakes massively give us the ick, with a whopping 60% of us admitting we'd swipe left purely because of a bad bio or first message.

Those vibes mean we are all really susceptible to a cheeky delete and re-download, but the numbers are quite wild when it comes to how often.

Tinder users are hitting that re-download button 2.4 times a month, while Grindr users are taking things to the extreme with a whopping SIX re-downloads per month.

For guys, Samsung's results show the biggest struggles in online dating are keeping the convo alive, figuring out how to kick things off, and nailing the right tone when chatting with a new match.

On the flip side, women are more focused on making a real connection, aren't keen on having the same chat over and over again, and have a hard time deciding how to show off their best selves in their bio - I feel seen.

It's no wonder, then, that AI tech is sneaking onto the scene. Almost half of Kiwis that participated in the survey admitted they'd consider getting AI to write their bio for them when it comes to the search for love - or a hookup.

Ironically, almost the same number of respondents said they'd feel misled if they found out a match had used a robot to write their profile... damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess???

Gen Zers were super confident they could spot an AI-generated convo from a mile away, with 47% saying they wouldn't be caught out.

Interestingly, men are more keen to use AI's help with crafting messages than women, with 42% saying they'd give it a crack over the ladies' 33%.

Just when we thought online dating couldn't get any more crazy, eh? Maybe we should take a leaf from those TikTokers and just start dating Chat GPT to cut out the middleman. Or any man.

I need a lie down!
