Instagram just added a friend map where you can choose who keeps tabs on you

It's giving HEAVY snapmaps but with wayy more features!

Instagram has just launched a new feature that’s giving HEAVY snap maps vibes and we don’t know how to feel about it.

In the app's latest update, users have noticed a ‘maps’ feature appearing in the messaging functions of the app.

The new map feature lets you see where your mates are using Apple Maps.

You can pin specific and leave a note, snap a pic from your location share it to the map and search for nearby friends.

But to do any of these new features you must opt-in and turn your ‘precise location’ on in your phone’s settings - and that will let other users see your last active location.

Thankfully, it’s not a mandatory setting and it’s totally up to you whether you make your location available AND who you share it with.

Whether it’s mutual followers, close friends or a select few people, you pick your privacy and if you don’t want to be seen you can choose ‘invisible mode’.

And even if you don’t want to show your location it doesn’t stop you from being able to see others. If they’re setting includes you, you’re free to peep at their whereabouts!

And while it’s coming for Snapchat gig users are raising safety concerns that set the two apps apart.

People are urging Insta users to double and triple-check that their settings aren’t being shared with the wrong people.

Right! I’m off to check my own map rn.
