Country Road is recalling ALL of their popular mug range over a major safety risk

Country Road NZ and AU is recalling all of their popular ‘Two-Tone Demm’ mugs over a serious safety issue.

In a Facebook announcement, the retailer said: “A safety hazard has been identified in our Two-Tone Demm Mug sold from 1 November 2023 until 24 May 2024”

According to the recall notice, “a manufacturing defect in some of these mugs is causing them to break unexpectedly when filled with hot liquid.”

“THIS DEFECT CAN POSE A SIGNIFICANT RISK, WHICH CAN RESULT IN BURNS, LACERATIONS, AND SCALDING."

The Country Road recalled mugs are: 

Country Road Two-Tone Demm Mug

  • 60292978- 4075 SAPPHIRE
  • 60292978- 7689 BERMUDA
  • 60292978- 569 LILAC
  • 60292978- 185 DARK OLIVE 

All mugs mentioned above, bought from Country Road between 1 November 2023 and 24 May 2024, are affected.

People are shook this is the first recall, with one Facebook user commenting: “All my Country Road mugs have done this over the past 2 years.”

Another added: “3 of my solid navy colour with white writing have cracked and broken when boiling water poured.”

If you own any of these mugs, you can get a full refund. Product Safety NZ says to stop using the mug immediately and return it to any Country Road store for a full refund or replacement.

The recall notice also mentions that if you have sold or gifted your mug to someone else, to get in touch with Country Road customer support via email.
